Ugoos AM7, UT8 and X4Q Pro (Android 11)

If you already have a screen but need something that can display your content, Ugoos with Android is our first choice. Connect the Ugoos box behind the screen, follow our set-up guide below, and continue using the screen you already have! ♻️No license fees! ✓ Remote control (keyboard not necessary) and HDMI-cable is included! ✓

💡This is information for setting up and using equipment for PinToMind. Find information about equipment we recommend, on our website.

🔌 This is a guide for Ugoos devices running Android 11.0. The guide is written for the models AM7, UT8 and X4Q.

Startup and Install ROOT

  • The first time you start your Ugoos device, you need to choose which home menu to use. We recommend "Launcher3" which increases user-friendliness. Press "ALWAYS" to avoid having to select this again later.
  • Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote, and go to ⚙️"Settings" followed by "Network & Internet" and connect to your wireless network.

We recommend to update the device to the latest version:

  • Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button and go to ⚙️"Settings" -> "Device Preferences" -> "About" -> "System Update" -> "CHECK NOW".

To be able to update the app automatically and restart at night, 'ROOT' access must be set:

  1. Press 🏠 "HOME"-button ->  ⚙️"Settings" followed by "Device Preferences" -> "Superuser" and activate "Magisk". The device will restart.
  2. After restart, go tp  "Apps" (Menu selection in the middle, circle with six dots).
  3. Select and open the app "Magisk".
  4. The Magisk-app needs to be updated. Press "OK" to download and install.
  5. During the installation, you must give the app access to install. Press "Settings"  and activate "Allow from this source". 
  6. Go back and press "Install".
  7. Open the "Magisk"-app again after the installation, and select "OK" to complete the setup. The device will restart.
  8. Super! The device is now set up with ROOT access.

Installation of PinToMind Player

  1. Open Google Chrome (See image below). 

  2. Search or type "insk.no/apk" in the address field in the browser. Open and then click "Download".NOTE: During the installation, you will need to give necessary access to the app, with e.g. "Settings" and "Allow".
  3. Exit Google Chrome using the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  4. Open the app 💾 "Total Commander" as shown in the image belom. (The first time you start "Total Commander" it needs access to files on your device.)

  5. Select "Downloaded files" (see image below).

  6. Select "app-release.apk" and "Install" to install PinToMind Player.
  7. Select "Done".
  8. Exit "Total Commander" with the ↩️ "Return"-button on the remote.
  9. Give the app access to be able to open automatically on startup. Go to ⚙️"Settings" -> "Apps" -> "Special app access" -> "Display over other apps" and activate "PinToMind Player".
  10. Go to "Apps" (Menu selection in the middle, circle with six dots). 
  11. Find and select PinToMind Player to start the app. When the app is started, a code is displayed on the screen.(If you have set up ROOT access on the device: When you open the app for the first time, you must press "Grant" to give the app ROOT access)
  12. a. If you use PinToMind 3On another computer or mobile: Log in to your PinToMind-account. Go to "Screens" in the left menu and select "+ CONNECT A NEW SCREEN".

    b. If you use PinToMind ClassicOn another computer or mobile: Log in to your PinToMind-account in https://app.pintomind.com/connect.

  13. Enter the code now displayed on the screen, to connect the device to your account.  
  14. Select which channel (PinToMind 3) or screen (PinToMind Classic) to display on the device.

    You can change the channel/screen displayed on this device, at any time. 

  15. The channel/screen you selected now starts displaying on your device.

Thats it! PinToMind Player is now installed and the device is ready for use.


Ugoos Settings

Shortcuts in PinToMind Player

Once the display has started, you can use these shortcuts (with remote control):

  • "Up-Up-Down-Down" reloads the content of the display.
  • "Middle-Up-Left-Down-Down" restarts the app. (This only works if ROOT is installed. See the section above on ROOT.)

Go to PinToMind Player

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Select "Apps": The menu selection in the middle, a circle with six dots.
  3. Select PinToMind Player.
  4. The Player app starts. ✅

Change network

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Go to ⚙️"Settings".
  3. In the list, select  "Network & Internet".
  4. Select and connect to wireless network.
  5. Go back to PinToMind Player.

Change clock

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Go to ⚙️"Settings".
  3. In the list, select "Device Preferences" -> "Date & time".
  4. Make sure that "Automatic date & time" is active. 
  5. Select "Set time zone" and find your time zone.
  6. Go back to PinToMind Player.

Remove status bar

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Go to ⚙️"Settings".
  3. In the list, select "Ugoos settings" -> "System bars".
  4. Turn off "Show status bar" and "Show navigation bar".
  5. Go back to PinToMind Player.

Landscape/Portrait

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Go to ⚙️"Settings".
  3. In the list, select "Device Preferences" -> "Display" -> "Screen rotation"
  4. Select "Force portrait" or "Force landscape".
  5. Go back to PinToMind Player.

Change screen resolution

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Go to ⚙️"Settings".
  3. In the list, select "Device Preferences" -> "Display" -> "Screen resolution"
  4. Under "Display Mode" select screen resolution.
  5. Go back to PinToMind Player.

Delete app

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Go to ⚙️"Settings".
  3. In the list, select "Apps" -> "PinToMind Player".
  4. Select option to uninstall the app.

Factory reset

  1. Press the 🏠 "HOME"-button on the remote.
  2. Go to ⚙️"Settings".
  3. In the list, select "Device preferences" -> "About" -> "Reset options" -> "Erase all data (factory reset)".
